Originally founded in 1993, C.DESIGN stands as an iconic Australian swimwear brand dedicated to timeless design and the unbridled spirit of the 90’s. Founded by young designer Claire Metcalf and her husband Gavin Eddy, C.DESIGN quickly established itself globally as one of Australia’s most sophisticated and sought after swimwear brands.

From the coastal borders of Western Australia the duo built a reputation of incomparable quality, relaxed elegance and the freedom to design without external influence, offering swimwear that was unseen and unmistakable. The designs reflected a coming-of-age era in fashion, encapsulating the effortless and timeless spirit of the pre-internet age, underpinned by core principles of sculpture and foundational balance informed by Claire’s background in ballet and performance art. Within 6 months of designing their first samples, the brand was picked up by press and media, quickly establishing a name in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Marie Claire. Throughout 10 years of independent business, C.DESIGN became internationally renowned, stocking their collections in the most prestigious department stores of London, Milan and New York, and favoured by the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Elle Macpherson and Megan Gale.

In the early 2000’s, Claire and Gav closed the doors to shift focus to raising their three children, Tia, Taj and Sienna. Now, 20 years later, the family of 5 have reimagined the iconic brand, offering swimwear inspired by family heritage, 90’s elegance and contemporary minimalism. Collections are developed from the original patterns with a sense of modern reinvention to create a trusted resort wardrobe with uncompromising quality in mind. Continuing the family fashion business with attention to a sophisticated production practice, producing timeless designs that have remained in the closets of family and friends for decades.
